What is DarkShepherd?
DarkShepherd helps Shopify merchants spot orders that may need attention before they turn into customer complaints, refunds, or operational disruptions.
What kinds of orders does DarkShepherd flag?
Examples include orders that are paid but not fulfilled, fulfilled without tracking, refunded while fulfillment is still active, or orders that have been sitting at the same stage longer than expected.
Does DarkShepherd change anything in my Shopify store?
Not by default. DarkShepherd is designed to start read-only, so it can identify and surface issues without automatically changing your orders.
How is this different from just checking Shopify?
Shopify shows you the status of an order. DarkShepherd focuses on orders where the status doesn't match what should be happening next — then helps your team see what may need attention and what to check next.
Does DarkShepherd replace Shopify?
No. DarkShepherd works alongside Shopify and gives your team another layer of operational visibility.
Do I need to keep all of my current apps?
Not necessarily. DarkShepherd is being built to replace several separate operational tools with one dashboard, so your team can monitor orders, exceptions, fulfillment, tracking, inventory issues, and next steps in one place.
You can still keep the systems that are essential to your operation, but the goal is to reduce unnecessary app overlap and dashboard hopping.
How quickly does DarkShepherd detect an issue?
DarkShepherd monitors order activity and looks for exceptions based on status, timing, and expected order progression. Exact timing can vary depending on the type of issue.
Can my team see why an order was flagged?
Yes. The goal is to show what happened, what appears unusual, and what your team may want to check next — without making you hunt through multiple screens.
Is DarkShepherd only for large Shopify stores?
No. DarkShepherd is designed for Shopify merchants of different sizes. It can be especially valuable as order volume grows and it becomes harder for a team to manually catch every order that needs attention.
Can DarkShepherd see my customers' information?
DarkShepherd only accesses the Shopify data needed to identify order exceptions and provide operational visibility. Access is limited to what is required for the service.
